Svastha yoga is a healing approach to yoga practice and is the foundation of Tree of Life Curative Yoga. Svastha yoga was developed by A. G. Mohan, a long time student of Sri T. Krishnamacharya, considered by many to be "The Father of Modern Yoga".

"Svastha," in sanskrit, means "to stay (or remain) oneself" - referring to one's true state of health and well being.

Svastha yoga follows the approach of Sri T. Krishnamacharya in that each student is seen as unique. As such, each student is to be given a unique, practice specific to that individual's strengths and vulnerabilities.

A.G. Mohan, a student of Krishnamacharya for 18 years, closely adopted Krishnamacharya's teachings which can be followed in A.G. Mohan's books, Yoga for Body, Breath, and Mind (1993), and Yoga Therapy: A Guide to the Therapeutic Use of Yoga and Ayurveda for Health and Fitness (2004, co-authored with Indra Mohan).

Svastha yoga's ideal setting, rather than the studio class, is a one-on-one setting. It is in this context that a personalized practice is formulated. Svastha yoga offers an approach in which the individual's needs and goals are honored in the effort to bring that individual into physical, psychological, and emotional balance.

"According to Krishnamacharya , practice and knowledge must always go together. He used to say, practice without right knowledge of theory is blind. This is also because without right knowledge, one can mindfully do a wrong practice".  A.G. Mohan
